Chapter 100: Chapter 100 Sudden Battle

The untrimmed short branches acted like natural hooks, and with apples stuck on them, neither the red pandas nor the crows could easily take them away!

Chestnut\'s pale red fluffy tail hung below the perch, and her little paws pressed down on an apple, nibbling at it bit by bit with her head lowered.

The crow, on the other hand, had its claws separated, perched on the wooden rest, its black-blue body pushed low, leaning away from the red panda to the right, poised like a Wild Horse Parts Mane move in Tai Chi, ready for a possible attack, and looked like it could skedaddle at any moment!

All of a sudden, its body leaned left, and its caudal feathers flared out, pecking at the apple.

Chestnut seemed to sense something and looked up, "Humph, what do you think you\'re doing?"

The crow was already fluttering its wings, leaning swiftly back to the right.

If Chestnut had made any larger movement just then, the crow would have flown away in that instant! So darn clever and cautious.

Several children who cared about the red pandas shouted until they were hoarse, anxiously and angrily yelling, "Thief! Thief!"

Chestnut didn\'t notice anything out of the ordinary and continued nibbling away at his apple.

The crow leaned to the left again, sneakily pecking at the apple next to it, and as soon as it noticed Chestnut lifting her head, it quickly leaned right again. Hah, it\'s pulling funny faces, as invisible as a ghost when it draws its knife!

Already dressed in unlucky black, now with its shifty eyes and jumping back and forth, it exuded an even stronger air of mischief!

No wonder the children were so worked up, overwhelmingly siding with the adorable red panda and wishing they could help chase the crow away themselves.

Wang Jinxuan clenched her teeth and glared at the crow, saying in frustration, "Ah, the crow is so bad!"

Yuan Yu found it quite amusing, "Isn\'t this just like a scene from a Stephen Chow movie? Hey, I\'m coming out, hey, I\'m going back, hey, I\'m out again, hey, I\'m back again, what about it, what about it, what about it, hit me, dummy~"

Upon hearing this, Wang Jinxuan couldn\'t help but burst out laughing, "That\'s so true! It\'s so annoyingly mischievous."

The crow is an extremely intelligent and mischievous bird!

How smart, you ask? When a crow perches on a streetlight at a crossroads, it observes that cars stop at red lights and start moving at green lights, understanding the correlation between traffic light colors and vehicle passage.

After grasping this pattern, it even figures out how to use cars to crack open nuts for it! It drops nuts onto the street during a red light, lets the car tires crush the nutshells, and then jumps back onto the street to pick up and eat the kernels at the next red light.

Yet, it is also mischievously naughty!

The most typical behavior is pecking at animals\' tails.

A cat or dog lies there comfortably, and the crow sneaks up behind and suddenly pecks at their tail, yanking it back.

Scientists initially thought this behavior was to distract opponents for food, but later found out that it wasn\'t about food at all—it was purely for fun because the crow thought it was amusing!

Though red pandas can fight and get fierce when aggravated, they are generally docile, slow-moving, and adorably clumsy. The contrast with the clever and mischievous crow becomes even more apparent.

Chestnut seemed to have realized something was amiss, but the perch was slanted and narrow, with all four paws pressing on it—he felt a bit unsteady the moment he let one paw go, which made him somewhat helpless against the crow trying to steal his apple.

All he could do was lower his head and eat as quickly as he could!

The crow grew bolder as Chestnut buried its head in eating, pecking at the apple several times and trying to carry it away. Perhaps the noise was too loud, this time Chestnut lifted its head and stared at the crow for several seconds.

Not feeling embarrassed in the slightest, the crow turned its head away and shifted its feet further off, as if whistling nonchalantly, seeming to say, "It wasn\'t me, really, it wasn\'t me! I didn\'t do anything!"

Yet as soon as Chestnut lowered its head, it immediately turned back and started pecking the apple again.

With each peck, the apple lodged in the tree branch loosened, was seized by the crow in its beak, and after turning around and taking a few steps, its long tail flicked up, and it lightly hopped to the edge of the perch like a dragonfly skimming the water\'s surface!

Chestnut looked up dumbfounded at the crow, with an apple in its mouth, no less?

The crow flapped its wings and flew up to the wall on the outskirts of the exhibit in a few beats, its voice hoarse as it "cawed" raucously, indistinguishable between mockery and pride, as it began to ostentatiously enjoy the stolen treat!

"Caw caw caw caw!"

"The apple has been stolen!"

A few children immediately cried out in disappointment and dismay, with one particularly fond of red pandas even starting to sob, "Bad crow, the red panda is going to be hungry now!"

An accompanying parent couldn\'t help but laugh and cry, quickly squatting down to wipe the tears from the child\'s eyes, consoling, "It\'s okay, it\'s okay, look, there\'s still one piece left! Don\'t worry, the animal keeper auntie won\'t let the red pandas go hungry."

"That\'s right, that\'s right, our red pandas eat very well every day!"

Guan Shan responded with a smile on her face but internally grumbled, Can\'t they call me animal keeper sister? Do I look that old?

Yuan Yu and Wang Jinxuan had watched the entire process of the crow stealing the apple and left the red panda exhibit satisfied.

"Coming to the zoo today was such a win!"

"Yeah, we arrived just at the right moment to witness such an exciting scene, we\'re so lucky."

Monkey Mountain.

The two leaned on the railing, watching various monkeys\' antics within Monkey Mountain.

Some monkeys hung from the rope bridges with one hand, swaying to and fro. Some sat atop the stone hills, continuously scanning their surroundings.

Just as they were watching with enthusiasm, a sharp, piercing "squeak" suddenly came from the exhibit!

All the onlookers jumped in surprise!

Two monkeys abruptly began chasing and scuffling, not only startling the visitors but also the other monkeys, as the young ones immediately sought refuge in the embrace of the mothers.

One monkey fled frantically in front, the other in hot pursuit behind, scrambling over the rock hill obstacles and into the corner, where the pursued monkey turned around, bared its teeth and shrieked, while the pursuing monkey hesitated to advance, instead baring its teeth fiercely and screeching, eyes bulging as it tried to overwhelm its opponent with its own intimidation!

Neither monkey hurried to make a move, instead glowering at each other, their fur bristling, they shifted ever so slightly on all fours, as though two masters were building up their momentum before a duel, leading to a standoff.

After a brief pause, the surrounding macaques quickly gathered near the stone hill, watching from a distance!

The onlookers whispered among themselves, "What\'s going on?" "Are they fighting?"

The standoff didn\'t last long before the attacking macaque took the initiative, sprang forward abruptly, and tried to claw at the other! However, the attacked macaque suddenly leaped up, not only dodging the assault but also kicked off the wall mid-air and flipped to land on the side, escaping from the disadvantageous position of being cornered.

Logically, it could have fled by then, but instead of running, the monkey bared its teeth and glared fiercely, as if determined to fight its adversary to the death!
