Chapter 102: Ruined World (1)
[An 'Unknown God' is slowly opening Its eyes.]
Rumble! Rumble! Crack!
The ground of Gwanghwamun trembled as if there was an earthquake. A dark aura rose from the altar and shot towards the crimson sky. In the next instant, the empty space was becoming distorted.
It was a sign of a great calamity descending into this world.
..This was truly an unexpected development.
[I was wondering what the huge fuss was about but would you look at this?]
A voice was heard and Aurora appeared, while flapping her wings to stay afloat.
[Seriously now, what the hell wrong with you? You could have wished for anything else like creating a new world or building your narrative or even an imaginary girlfriend, you know. But you chose this instead? DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT YOU'VE DONE, YOU MOTHERF@#$ING PIECE OF SH@#!!]
The fairy started launching curses at Park Joonhyuk. It really looked as if she was about to lose her shit. However, Park Joonhyuk responded nonchalantly and picked his ear.
"Ugh... You're so loud. Why are you throwing a fit anyways? I used the False Grail as it's supposed to be used. Wasn't this the aim of the Administration Buseau?"
[You lowlife, you have no deal what you're doing.]
It was indeed true that the Administration Buseau planned the whole scenario, but this route was something they wouldn't have foreseen even in a thousand lives. It was because there was nobody crazy enough to summon that thing.
I used private communication to speak with Aurora.
'Hey, can't you cancel the wish or slow down the process?"
[Impossible. Once the False Grail is activated, the wish is sealed. There's no going back—That thing will be summoned into this world.]
... Damn. Surely, that god would not descend into this world?
If that thing is summoned and a causality storm occurs, that God won't be the least of our worries.
'That can't be right. Isn't there another way?'
[T-That...]
Aurora hesitated for a moment before she opened her mouth again. Since Park Joonhyuk used that method, It would be possible to change the contents of the Nightmare Scenario.
In the original novel, this was the step that Soo Jinyoung took.
[There's something I can try, but that would require a huge amount of Karma points. Even so, that scenario would be better than this.]
Aurora flapped her wings and floated higher into the sky. She raised her tiny arms into the air, and unleashed an incredible amount of 'status'.
If the fairy known as Aurora used her authority as an Administrator, she would be able to change the content of the Fable. However, It was not enough.
Crack! Crack!
[Ughh!]
There was the sound of a groan and sparks flew around Aurora's tiny body.
Just like how there was an hierarchy among the constellations, the Administrators also had an hierarchy. Unfortunately, Aurora was just a Low-grade Lackey.
[Damnit. That sleeping god is overwhelming my authority.]
Aurora cried out as the status she was pouring into the sky flickered and waned. As expected, she won't be able to counter the status of that deity.
Park Joonhyuk glanced at her with a playful smile forming on his lips.
"You said I shouldn't play with more I can chew, but aren't you doing the same?"
[Shut up! If I could hit your head, I would have already done so.]
Aurora's eyes flashed in frustration as she slowly getting overwhelmed. At the same time, the dark aura above continued to grow and the distortion in the sky thickened considerably.
... This was bad. At this rate, everyone will die without putting up a fight.
There was still something that could be done, but I was not sure it would work. Even so, I used the private communication.
'Aurora, use the status of the constellations.'
[What?]
'You're lacking karma points, right? You can just take a little karma points from the constellations in the Seoul Dome. Most of them are historical gods with great amount of status, so it should be enough, right?'
[Do you think they will agree to help?]
'Even If they're constellations, none of them will want their birthland to be destoryed.'
[.....]
Aurora remained silent in the air for a long time. Her wings trembled as if hesitant to take the next step.
She bit her lips and spoke directly into my head once again.
[Fine. I'll try. But let's hope you're right.]
She clicked her fingers and glowing strands of energy began shoot out from her, connecting to the constellations scattered across the Seoul Dome.
The status of the constellations flickered and flowed towards the fairy at once. At the same time, the energy threads began to glow thicker.
[Dear constellations, please lend me your aid.]
"Do you honestly think that will work? The constellations aren't as good as..."
Park Joonhyuk wanted to say something but suddenly stopped talking. The constellation indirect messages were appearing one by one, that was why.
[The constellation 'Duke of Naval Warfare' is sacrificing karma points.]
There was a gentle wind.
[The constellation 'Phoenix Queen of Twilight Heaven' is sacrificing karma points.]
That's two.
[The constellation 'Emperor Heungmu the Great' is sacrificing karma points.]
Now it's three.
[The constellation 'Moonlight Sage of Silla' is sacrificing karma points.]
[The constellation 'Drunken First Sword' is complaining and sacrifices karma points]
[The constellation 'Last Stand of Hwangsanbeol' is answering the Lackey's call.]
[The constellation...]
...
The constellations and stars present in the Seoul Dome began unleashing their status one by one.
「 Even as gods of a new world, they could not bear to see the destruction of the world that had created their narrative 」
[Enough karma points has been gathered.]
[The contents of the nightmare scenario has forcibly been changed.]
[The 'Unknown God' is returning back to its slumber.]
"Eh? What the hell is this?!"
Park Joonhyuk shouted out as if It was ridiculous. Obviously, he wasn't pleased by the sudden turn of events.
Perhaps he was planning to obtain a Fragment— by summoning an evil deity into this world and kill the weakened deity using the Yellow Dragon Sword. But that plan would have failed horribly even that thing was summoned.
I smiled upon seeing his reaction. How am I going to tell this foolish reader that It's not good to be greedy.
"...!"
I shifted my gaze to the sky and saw a small body falling down. Without thinking, I caught the small body before it hit the ground. It was Aurora.
Her body had suffered from severe burns and two of her wings were torn. It was the consequence of going against the Fable.
"You did good."
[Sh... Shut up. I've done... my part... You're on... your own now.]
Upon saying those words, Aurora fainted. Did she seriously use the last of her strength to tell me that?
...Wait.
Aurora used her status as an Administrator to return the Unknown God back to its slumber. But that doesn't mean the wish will be nullified.
In such a scenario, wouldn't something else be summoned to carry out the will of the Sleeping Evil God?
[Exclusive skill, Omniscient Wall has activated.]
The familiar wave of information surged through my mind and revealed the hidden details behind the current scenario.
In the original work, Soo Jinyoung had used this method to summon the Most Ancient Chaos but the Sleeping God was not summoned. Instead, something else was summoned.
A servant of [Fate] whose nature was tied towards destruction.
[A substitution for the 'Unknown God' is being sought.]
My blood ran cold. The system was scrambling to fill the void left by the retreating god.
The surrounding people around the vicinity noticed the situation and fell into panic mode.
Although the darkened sky had returned back to its crimson hue, something far more ominous emerged in its place. A massive vortex appeared before the altar and swirled with enough force to distort the space around it.
Crack! Crack!
Sparks of energy cracked within the huge vortex and the world shook. Smething with overwhelming presence was coming.
In the next moment, a black silhouette was seen within the vortex.
[A replacement has been found for the Nightmare Scenario.]
[The 'Disaster of Ruin' has entered your world.]
"Hey, this is..."
Someone from the crowd spoke out. The people looked confused.
Contrary to their expectations, the 'something' that had stepped out from the vortex was not a monster or a demon god, but a human.
To be precise, It was a young man that looked around his early twenties.
"Huh? Where is this? This is not Japan."
The boy swept his gaze like a foreigner entering a country he did not know for the first time.
His brown hair fell to his shoulders, and his almost alabaster skin made him seem disconnected from the natural world. He wore casual clothes—a white jacket, red T-shirt, and black pants fastened with a brown belt. And then there was a metallic claw that extended from his right hand. It seemed to be an item worn by him instead of a prosthetic arm.
For some unexplainable reason, alarm bells was going off inside my head.
"...!"
The unknown boy suddenly vanished and appeared infront of a woman nearby in an instant. It was a woman that belonged to the Justice's group.
The woman jumped back in fright. "W-Who...?"
"Sorry for scaring you, I just wanted to ask you something. Where is this place exactly and what year is it? You see, I was just doing my own thing and I suddenly appeared here."
"Ah, T-That...You came from a portal."
"C'mon, I know that, but where is this place?"
No, I can't let that woman answer that question. I tried to move at once but my body hasn't recovered still and my voice won't come out.
... What's going on? Shouldn't the stab wound have healed by now?
"Um... T-This is Seoul and the current..."
"Seoul? As in South Korea Seoul, not Japan?"
"W-What? No, this is not Japan."
"I see. I think understand now. Thank you, you really did a good job."
The woman looked confused but the boy just causally waved his hand.
In the next instant, the entire body of the woman completely vanished. Not a single molecule of that woman remained. Most likely, she must have not realised she was erased from existance.
"What the hell? What just happened?"
"Where did that woman go?"
"Did he kill her?"
Because of the absurdity of the situation, It took a few moments for the people to realise what had happened. Once they did, they turned pale and instantly backed away in fright.
As if their reactions were cute, the unknown boy chuckled and took a step forward. It seemed as though the very air was suffocating.
"You all look scared," the boy said with a smile that didn't reach his void-like eyes. "It's fine. I don't plan on killing everyone here. Not yet, at least. It would be no fun if I killed all of you so quickly."
It was a voice devoid of emotion, cold and detached, like someone who had played the same tedious game countless times until he no longer cared.
"...!"
My body was filled with goosebumps. Infront of me was one of the main tragedies that accelerated the world's destruction.
The Disaster of Storms. He was a human that couldn't escape his own fate and stories, and became part of the tragedy.
