Chapter 656: 650: Star Domain

“There’s a lot you didn’t expect, do you really think you call the shots in this galaxy?” Finn Lewis chuckled coolly and retorted. There were plenty of people here, but most kept their distance from them. Clearly, they knew who the man Lewis was dealing with represented.

“Heh, whether I call the shots isn’t important. What is surprising is that you, a native from a primitive planet, have been given a chance to rise up. I thought you’d die on that planet. But looking at it now, this scenario is a lot more interesting than I had expected. It’s intriguing to anticipate what’s next.” The man laughed lightly before continuing his words.

“Oh, I’m sorry to disappoint you, but I’m very much alive,” responded Lewis. Crowds gathered, seeming to enjoy the spectacle. The spectacle drew attention from humans regardless of the level of technology available, with what appeared to be members of the media filming from the outskirts of the throng.

But Lewis couldn’t control these affairs, so he just had to take things as they came.

“Did he really come from a primitive planet?”

“How can a person from a primitive planet make it here?”

“Seems like he is here to claim his inheritance. Could he be the reincarnation of a royal family member?”

Whispers spread through the crowd. Hearing these whispers, the man swiveled his eyes around, grinning. “Well, you’ve had quite the journey, a native from a primitive planet who managed not to get lost and turn up here. But even if you get your inheritance here, how much would it be worth? With your whole family gone, you’re the only one left, aren’t you?”

Lewis let out a sigh, replying a bit helplessly, “To be honest, I really don’t want to comment. Translated from our native speech, it would be something like ‘there are morons every year, but this year there are especially many’. If I’m not mistaken, from a certain perspective, aren’t you my son? I’m so honored. If I’d known what kind of son you’d turn out to be, I might’ve chosen to spill you on the wall instead! Oh, I forgot, have you joined another family now? True, I’m a native from a primitive planet, but since I have inherited my title, I remain royal. Even if I am the only one left in my family, I am still the head of that family. And you, what are you? Someone else’s dog?”

“Let’s see if you can still laugh later. Inheriting your legacy doesn’t mean everything’s safe and sound. I’ll wait for you here.” The man didn’t seem offended at all; he chuckled lightly, and then simply turned around and left.

Those following him left immediately after he did. Lewis squinted at the man’s retreating back. This guy was more manipulative than Lewis had imagined, but that made sense considering his age. His actual age was definitely not as young as he looked. After all, Lewis had been dead for well over ten thousand years in his previous life.

How old was his son, after all? Even thinking about it sent a chill down his spine. After the man left, everything went back to normal. Dunn Monty, who had been standing beside Lewis, seemed slightly relieved. He looked at Lewis, who remained silent for a long moment before finally whispering, “Your Highness, what are your plans now?”

“Does it seem that I need to do anything special? After handling matters here, I have to return to Earth. You don’t have to accompany me. Should your official duties be reinstated, you would have a lot on your plate. You also undoubtedly have your own work to do. Just go about your own business,” Lewis said, nodding.

“Now, Your Highness, you need to join the Federation’s Star Zone Network. This legitimizes your identity and comes with numerous advantages,” Monty suggested to Lewis.

Lewis nodded. The Star Zone Network, referred to as the Star Field within the Galactic Federation, is similar to the internet on Earth, only larger. The network spans the entire Galactic Federation and can even be accessed in remote places like the Death Star. Rumors abound that the main server of the Star Field is as big as a planet.

However, nobody knows where this main server is specifically located. Apparently, even within the Supervisory Bureau, the location can only be revealed with a command signed by all ten bureau chiefs and three fleet commanders. However, since the third fleet of the Supervisory Bureau does not exist, it’s basically impossible for anyone to find out the exact whereabouts of the server.

Yet, every year, the Federation allots a lot of military expenses to maintain the server of Star Field. The entire Star Field acts as the identification system of the Federation, and anyone can register an account using their gene identification code and family emblem, for which they’ll receive a personal AI.

Unlike the AI that you buy from the market, this AI is your real personal AI. Depending on your identity, whether you’re nobility, royalty, or a civilian, the intelligence level of the allocated AI varies. This is equivalent to your identification. This personal AI can assist you in many ways: applying for federal benefits, performing tasks that require identity verification, and so on.

However, the AI that you buy from the market, although it can also log onto the Star Field network, cannot perform functions related to official departments. In other words, registering with your gene identification code and family emblem is like getting a national ID, while the one you buy from the market is an unregister or a ‘black household’.

In daily use, there’s no difference between the two types, but when it comes to executing operations that require identity verification, only registered AIs can perform these operations. You can only have one registered AI, but you can have countless unregistered AIs as long as you have the money. However, there seems to be no particular advantage in owning multiple ones.

Anyway, there are many rules and regulations involved. Lewis had just skimmed through some of them. As a member of the royal family, naturally, he could get an AI with a higher intelligence level.

Taking Monty’s advice, Lewis made his way to one of the departments in the main hall to register. Unlike other departments, this one was run entirely by humanoid AI, resembling the Star Bank that Lewis had previously visited.

Upon entering the hall, Monty was asked not to go inside. Being prepared for such circumstances, Monty was not taken aback and waited outside after informing Lewis. Meanwhile, Lewis followed a humanoid AI inside.
